The reward of hard work is more work, this came to light when the Information and Public Relations Section bid farewell and awarded two National Youth Corps members, Miss Ilona Ginika Augustina and Miss Sunmonu Justina Feyisayo, upon completion of their one-year mandatory service to the nation.
The event, which took place recently at the Local Government Council Chambers, Angware, drew a large crowd, including the executive, legislative, Youth Corps members, and technocrats, to honor their resilience and dedication during their service year.
Presenting the awards and certificates of recognition to the Youth Corps members for their selfless service in Information and Public Relations, as well as Journalism practice, Secretary to the Local Government Council, Honourable Joyce Samuel Nyam, representing Executive Chairman, Hon Chief Markus Nyam, congratulated the awardees for demonstrating hard work and dedication to their tasks. She commended the effort of the Information and Public Relations Section of the Council for the brilliant initiative and called on other departments to emulate them.
The Chairman assured the Corps members that the Council would not hesitate to recall them for employment when the financial situation improves, having tested and trusted them. The Damsels will be remembered for their dedication and eagerness to learn.
Others who also lauded their efforts include Director Personnel Management, Mrs. Angela Yirlong; Director Finance and Supply, Mrs. Salomi Lenge; Director Social Services, Da David Mancha; Deputy Clerk, Legislative Council, Abel Sambo Ayuba and one of the Aide to the Chairman.Hon. Izang Madaki Azi.
They all applauded the Corps Members and encouraged them to pursue further studies and avail themselves of any employment opportunities, either private or public, and not to remain idle. They also urged them to put into use the knowledge they gained from Jos East Local Government.
The Head of Information, Lois Gofor, Chief Information Officer, Magit Yusufu Haruna, and Corps Liaison Officer, Oguntayo Adewale, all, urged the Corps members to flaunt the award given to them, saying it is a reward for their dedication and hard work.
Responding, Corper Ilona Ginika Augustina and Corper Sunmonu Justina Feyisayo appreciated the Information and Public Relations Section of Jos East Local Government for impacting positively on them, both in character and knowledge. They thanked the executive, legislative, and technocrats, including their colleagues, the Youth Corps members, for their words of advice, prayers, and success wishes. They pledged to use the gestures to improve their future careers.
Earlier, the Information and Public Relations Section had engaged the two Youth Corps members in a media chat where the corpers shared their experiences during their one-year service in Jos East, which revealed that it was worthwhile.
