NEWS FROM BOKKOS OLD STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATION (BOKOSA)



The alumni of Government College Bokkos now have a new EXCO.

The newly elected chairperson of Bokkos Old Students’ Association (BOKOSA), Dr Mrs Doris Gomos, in a post election speech, pledged to take the association to a higher level.


 The event which took place at De-Bridge Ville Hotel, Jos, during the Plateau Chapter’s first-quarter annual meeting. The chairperson promised to continue the good legacies of her predecessor, pleaded for cooperation from the new EXCO and members, and emphasized that no association thrives without alumni support, while  promising transparency, encouraged members to back her executive, and solicited the outgoing EXCO’s counsel.




Earlier, outgoing chairperson Josephine Ibrahim congratulated the new team and promised to remain available when needed. She listed achievements such as unity of purpose, quarterly meetings and several initiatives, urging the new council to bring fresh ideas and to work closely with the national body to advance BOKOSA’s goals.




The newly sworn-in executive includes: Dr Mrs Doris Gomos (Chairperson), Mrs Grace Dapel (Assistant Chairperson), Mrs Sophie Fuankas Atahiru (Secretary General), Blessing Alive Gongs (Assistant Secretary General), Mildred Mafuyai (Financial Secretary), Mrs Nandi Kurtong (Director of Socials), Mrs Nigin Manomi (Treasurer), Queen Sarah Jatau (Discipline), Mallama Saliha Iliyasu (Auditor), and Mrs Grace Nandet (Public Relations Officer).


 Highlight of the ceremony was the oath-taking by the patron, Prof Francis Kwede.

DR. UCHUA BEGINS TENURE WITH PRAYER, SEEKS  EXCELLENCE AT NCRS  JOS  


Following the formal handover of the mantle of leadership at the National Centre for Remote Sensing (NCRS), Jos, the newly appointed Director and Chief Executive, Dr. Kenneth Uchua,  officially assumed duty by committing the affairs of the Centre into the hands of God in a solemn “Beginning with God” prayer session held in his office.


The spiritual gathering, which brought together management staff, close associates and well-wishers, was led by his spiritual father, Rev. Father Kizito Fwogos, who offered prayers for divine wisdom, guidance and strength for the new Director as he begins his leadership of the Centre.

Among the notable guests present at the prayer session were Prof. Shiiwun Manu, Philip Mandung, Patrick Gowon, Gambo Simon, and Jeremiah Julbyen Juliet, alongside members of the Centre’s management team.


During the session, management staff took turns to pray for God’s guidance, wisdom and protection for Dr. Uchua throughout his tenure. They also pledged their loyalty, cooperation and unwavering support to the new Director in advancing the mandate of the Centre.

In their remarks, several members of the management team paid glowing tribute to Dr. Uchua’s leadership qualities, expressing confidence that his experience, dedication and vision would usher in a new phase of growth and innovation for the organisation.

Speaking shortly after the prayers, Dr. Uchua expressed deep appreciation to God, the DG NASRDA, Dr. Matthew Adepoju for his appointment, his spiritual father, Rev. Father Kizito Fwogos, Prof.Shiiwun Manu,  management staff and friends for their support and presence. 

He emphasized his determination to lead with integrity and purpose, stressing his commitment to excellence, teamwork and institutional progress.

Dr. Uchua further assured staff of an inclusive leadership style that would harness the collective strengths of the workforce in achieving the Centre’s objectives.


He also reiterated his resolve to align the activities of the Centre with the strategic vision of the Director-General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Olumide Adepoju, whose leadership, he noted, continues to inspire innovation and transformation across the Agency.

The “Beginning with God” ceremony marked the first official engagement of Dr. Uchua after formally taking over the leadership of the Centre last Friday, setting a tone of faith, unity and shared commitment as he begins his tenure at the helm of NCRS Jos.

JOS SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, THE EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF THE COUNCIL, SILAS PATRICK DUNG, HAS SPONSORED THE REGISTRATION OF 500 STUDENTS FOR THE 2026 JOINT ADMISSIONS AND MATRICULATION BOARD (JAMB) EXAMINATION.


In a bid to promote education in Jos South Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman of the council, Silas Patrick Dung, has sponsored the registration of 500 students for the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.

Speaking at the official flag-off ceremony held at Government Technical Science School Bukuru, the chairman represented by his deputy, Lucy Michael urged the students to study diligently in order to excel in their examinations. He emphasized that their future lies in their hands and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity provided.


In his welcome address, the Supervisory Councillor for Education, Wilfred Pwajok, expressed appreciation to the chairman for the generous gesture. He noted that a similar initiative was carried out last year, during which 500 students benefited, and that another 500 students have now been registered for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). He also advised the students to work extra hard to achieve success.


Delivering goodwill messages, the Principal of Government Secondary School Kumbuna, represented by Silas Ishaku, and the Principal of Government Technical Science School Bukuru, Mercy Wambuda, both thanked the chairman for his continued support toward education. They encouraged the students to consider themselves fortunate and to reciprocate the kind gesture by dedicating themselves to their studies and striving for excellence.


Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Angel Dalyop expressed profound gratitude to the chairman for the generous gesture. She assured him that the opportunity would not be taken for granted and promised that the students  would study hard to make him proud.
